The Lay Academy now has three programs:
-
Commissioned Lay Pastors' Program
for those who want to meet part of the qualifications to be Active Commissioned Lay Pastors.
The Complete course
of study includes 12 required and 4 elective courses. Required courses are offered on a two-year rotation. Elective courses vary. Students are strongly encouraged to take more than 16 courses. All graduates are expected to continue in their education and take additional courses.

Class Information:

Class Location: are
typically held at The Presbyterian Center, 1110 Lovett Blvd, Houston,
Texas, 77006-3824.

Hotel Arrangements:
If you need hotel arrangements, you may contact any hotel near the
Compaq Center on US Highway 59 in Houston, or call the TIPS Office
at 713.526.2585, extension 236.

Class Schedule: Regular
classes meet on selected weekends; Friday evening from 7:00-9:00pm,
and Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm with lunch break.
Classes usually require advance preparation-reading and writing. Please
request assignments from instructors and have them completed BEFORE
attending class on Friday night. Sometimes courses will be scheduled for Saturday only, be sure to check first.

Tuition: Each TIPS Lay Academy
class held at the Presbyterian Center has a tuition fee of $35. Any
class with an online component has a tuition fee of $50. You can
now pay for any class online, visit the Pay Pal secure web site
and send your payment to: tips@theinstituteforpastoralstudies.com.
All Distance Learning Classes or classes with on line components
must be paid by PayPal only. https://www.paypal.com
