May, 2010

Dear Friends,

The PW Presbytery Coordinating Team extends you a cordial invitation to join us at the annual PW Fall Retreat at Cho Yeh Conference Center, Livingston October 15 - 16, 2010.

Our theme this year is “Good Habits, Holy Lives”.  The Featured Speaker and Worship Leader for the weekend is Rev. Pat Felter. Our Workshop Leaders are Rev. Connie Alexander, Mary Marcotte, Dell Schooler, and  Rev. Kyle Walker. We are anticipating an outstanding conference of presentations, workshops, fellowship, prayer, renewal and enjoying the wonderful surroundings in the “piney woods” of East Texas. One main project we will focus on is the Solar Under the Sun Project of the Synod of the Sun.

I am sending this packet early in the hope that it will get into the hands of each of you, the local moderators and/or contact persons for each church in New Covenant. Please take this to your Circles and discuss how you can handle your reservations.

To meet the deadlines set by Cho Yeh your registration is due by September 10, 2010. But why wait until the last minute? Complete the registration form and send it in NOW, along with your payment, for the Conference! We will have 3 drawings (at the conference) and three (3) people will receive $40.00 each in cash. Our treasurer, Star Starling, must receive your registration on or before August 10, 2010, for you to be eligible. Please see the Registration Form for all the pricing. Feel free to make as many copies of the packet as you may need. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this packet, please contact me.

This year the offering for Gifts of Mission will support the following: (1) Small Steps Nurturing Center: This center operates two schools serving high risk children in Houstonʼs First and Fifth Wards. They have Christian-based, early childhood programs, led by members of St. Johnʼs Presbyterian Church.

(2) Scholarships for The Womenʼs Center of the Exodus Christian Presbyterian Church in North India. There, ten (10) day training sessions provide Dalit (outcaste) women from rural villages the opportunity to gain lifesaving information for their families about malaria, diarrhea, and stomach worms, while receiving Biblical instruction which shows how Jesus speaks directly to them.

I’m looking forward to a lively weekend with all of you at Cho Yeh in October. See you there!!

The Lord’s blessings on each of you,
Beverly Spencer
