Committee on Ministry (COM)
Committee on Ministry (COM) provides care, support, and oversight for presbytery’s minister-members, commissioned lay pastors, and certified Christian educators. It facilitates the relations
between congregations and church professionals and the presbytery. Its subcommittee include Administration, Care of Church Professionals, Care of Congregations, Contracts, Examinations,
and Lay Pastors.

The 6 sub-committees of COM:
Administration
Tracks constitutional requirements. Composed of 12 members; 4 members elected
each year for a 3-year term.
Care of Church Professionals
Provides care and support to ministers and church professionals. Composed of 9
members
divided into 3 equal classes.
Care of Congregations
Provides care, support, and counsel to congregations. Composed of 12 members;
4 members elected each year for a 3- year term.
Contracts
Establishes and reviews contracts for interim pastors, supply pastors, and commissioned lay
pastors. Composed of 9 members divided into 3 equal classes.
Examinations
Examines ministers and commissioned lay pastors entering the presbytery. Composed of 12 members;
4 members elected each year for a 3- year term.
Lay Pastor
Provides guidance and oversight for the training of elders who are called by God to Lay Pastoral Leadership. The requirements for lay pastor commissioning are outlined in the church's
Constitution, and training opportunities are numerous. Anyone who wishes to explore
