Committee and Ministry Design

Overlapping communication among work units, congregations, and church leaders is the back-bone of our presbytery's operational design. This design features intentionally "lean" committees so that decisions can be made at the lowest level.

 
The Personnel Committee hires and oversees presbytery staff. Composed of three members; one member elected each year for a three year term. Ecclesiastical Affairs arranges for our corporate-communal life. Composed of three members; one member elected each year for a three year term. Center Operations cares for Presbyterian Center's physical plant. Composed of three members; one member elected each year for a three year term. Business Affairs provides business acumen for presbytery operations. Composed of three members; one member elected each year for a three year term. General Council instigates and affirms the presbytery's mission. Composed of 12 members; four members elected each year for three year terms. Administrative Division Steering Committee coordinates the division’s work of resourcing and enabling our ministry vision. Composed of chair and vice-chair along with division committee chairs. Ministries Division Steering Committee coordinates program ministries to fulfill presbytery mission goals. Composed of chair and vice-chair and one representative from each of the division’s committees and ministries. Communications Committee promotes, encourages, and resources opportunities for our presbytery to tell its story of mission and ministry. Composed of 12 members; four members elected each year to a three year term. The Budget Committee coordinates annual budget and mission interpretation. Composed of three members; one member elected each year for a three year term. The Institute for Pastoral Studies Cho-Yeh Camp & Conference Center Outreach Ministries administers the presbytery's benevolent giving in support of local and global mission. Composed of 18 members; six members elected each year to a three year term. New Church Development establishes and promotes new church development in Southeast Texas. Composed of 18 members; six members elected each year to a three year term. Evangelism and Renewal assists congregations to recapture vitality and excitement of congregational fellowship. Composed of 18 members; six members elected each year to a three year term. Equipping Ministries provides education and leadership training programs for church ministers and members. Composed of 18 members; six members elected each year to a three year term. Connectional Ministries provides programs that enable links between congregations. Composed of 18 members; six members elected each year for a three year term. Committee on Preparation for Ministry provides care, support, and counsel to Inquirers and Candidates to the ordained Ministry of Word and Sacrament. Composed of 15 members; five members elected each year for a three year term. Committee on Ministry, through its five sub-committees, provides care, support, and oversight for minister members, commissioned lay pastors, church professionals, and congregations. Composed of chair and vice-chair and 60 members. Nominating Committee proposes candidates for all elected positions in presbytery. Committee on Representation provides advice on elected leadership regarding fair representation.
