How can you serve your presbytery? There are many opportunities within The Presbytery of New Covenant where you can use your abilities, interests and time to serve the ministry, mission, and work of the Presbytery Church in Southeast Texas. Many Opportunities ExistEach year, the presbytery’s Nominating Committee seeks more than 100 persons to serve Jesus Christ through work in our councils, committees, ministries, and governing boards. In addition they will also nominate 8 alternate commissioners to the General Assembly and four commissioners to Synod of the Sun.
Each September the Nominating Committee approves candidates to fill these positions. Our goal is to have nominees for all positions and present them to the presbytery for election by year’s end.Where might you serve? Take a look at the Presbytery Design and compare it to the gifts and talents that you bring to your ministry work:
In order that we elect qualified people who fairly represent our entire presbytery, the Nominating Committee needs your help. We need as many potential nominees as possible. We ask Church pastors, educators, and elders for nominations from your local congregations. We ask presbytery committee leaders and staff for nominations from the presbytery at large. We ask the individuals who read this to consider self-nomination to join in our presbytery’s mission and ministry. Making the Commitment How do you make a nomination or make your personal interest known?
If you are selected, the Nominating Committee will contact you to determine your willingness to serve. That person will provide information on the ministry’s mission, the duties of its members, and the time and locations of meetings. After the nominations process is complete, you will receive a letter welcoming you on-board.
We hope to welcome you to the team.
